Introducing ‘The Mica-Scope’: Lewes up close
The Mica-Scope is a new column looking at the big shifts in climate, business, and politics through the eyes of Mica Janiv, a sustainability expert who calls Lewes home. Every month, she’ll explore what those shifts mean for the choices we make: what we buy, where we shop, who we push back against, and what we do with all the caring.
Each month, the Mica-scope will analyse something specific: a trend, a policy, a business doing something interesting, or a thorny question that keeps coming up. Always setting the global picture against the local one. Always, we hope, thought-provoking.
By trade, Mica is a marketing and sustainability consultant, working with small businesses navigating what it means to operate responsibly right now – from working to become a B Corp to reporting on sustainability, to greenwashing and how to avoid it.
Her clients are mostly local businesses, which means she has a close-up view of what it actually looks like to run something ethical in this town, in this climate, in this economy.
Mica is a Certified B Corp and a trained Circular Economy practitioner. She lectures on responsible business at the University of Sussex, and writes at micajaniv.com.
