Lewes Climate Hub is delighted to announce Furniture Now! as our latest partner group. Now celebrating its 30th year, interim CEO Sarah Hinks shows how anyone can support the much-loved local charity in its ‘reuse, recycle, reduce’ mission.
Your local furniture charity since 1995!
Furniture Now! is thrilled to join Lewes Climate Hub. Founded in 1995, Furniture Now! is a charity dedicated to creating sustainable futures—for both people and the planet. Our work makes a positive social, environmental, and economic impact through improving access to essential household items, promoting greener waste management, and supporting local community projects.
From milk float to community pillar
What started as a volunteer-run milk float in Lewes, collecting and redistributing furniture, has grown into a dynamic and essential charity operating across Sussex. Today, Furniture Now! runs three retail stores in:
- Lewes
- Eastbourne
- Hailsham
Our stores offer affordable, new and pre-loved furniture, appliances, and homeware to communities across Sussex. We offer discounted items to those in need, and work with a range of organisations and councils to support vulnerable households and those in furniture poverty.
We host a Community Shed at our Hailsham Store, where volunteer participants upcycle and repair donated items for sale across our store. We are looking to roll out and develop this initiative in our other two stores. We are keen to work with local partners that align with our values, so please get in touch.

Donate items
Have you got household items in good condition that you no longer need? Donate them! Furniture Now! offers free collection five days a week across Sussex, encourages Gift Aid to maximise the value of donated goods to the charity and accepts:
- Household furniture
- Electrical and white goods
- Bric-a-brac
- Books

Be a volunteer
We are always looking for volunteers across our three friendly stores. We are especially looking for people with digital and social media skills to help us promote the charity and online sales.
Celebrate our 30th anniversary
Join us in celebrating Furniture Now!’s 30-year milestone at a special ‘takeover day’ at the Lewes Climate Hub at Lewes House, 32 High Street on Saturday 28 June. Come along to hear more about our amazing journey and the impact we’ve been able to have in local people’s lives. We will be having further celebrations at our Lewes store on Thursday 10 July, where we will be offering special discounts to those who shop on the day.
