Take part in the WaterBlitz for the River Ouse

It’s that time again! The next Great UK WaterBlitz will take place over the weekend of 19-22 September 2025 to help monitor the quality of our local freshwater. Sign up to take part in this fun and accessible testing programme for our River Ouse.

The Great UK WaterBlitz is a biannual campaign by Earthwatch Europe, calling on everyone to go out and test the quality of their local freshwater including rivers, streams and lakes. This helps to build a picture of water quality across the UK. The Great UK WaterBlitz is part of Earthwatch’s ongoing FreshWater Watch citizen science monitoring programme.

Love Our Ouse in Sussex coordinated a mass sign-up in April, marking the biggest one-off testing event the River Ouse has seen to date and making it the most tested river in Sussex! Love Our Ouse hopes to build on this as a twice-yearly baseline survey conducted by local people up and downstream.
