Track air pollution in Lewes in real-time
As part of one of the largest air quality monitoring projects of its kind in the UK, Lewes House (the home of Lewes Climate Hub), has been fitted with an air quality monitoring sensor – and you can track its readings online.
Launched in 2024, the Brighton Sussex Real Time Air Quality Portal is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, with 50 sensors placed in various locations across Sussex, including 40 in Brighton & Hove. (Greater London and West Midlands are working on similar projects.)
The pollution data presented aims to provide an indication of local air quality for awareness raising and community engagement. It has been funded by the DEFRA air quality grant and Brighton & Hove Council’s Carbon Neutral Fund
To track air quality in central Lewes, go to the Public Air Quality Portal for Brighton & Hove and Sussex and select ‘Lewes DC AQMA High Street’ to see readings for levels of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter on the High Street.
