As part of the year-long Lewes Festival of Democracy, join Dr Darrow Schecter, Professor of Critical Theory and Modern European History at the University of Sussex, to explore what democracy means today.

How is the definition of democracy evolving? What threats does democracy face now? Is it still the best model for governing society and delivering the change we need? If not, what new models might emerge?

darrow schecterDarrow has written books and articles on social and political thought, including Beyond Hegemony (2005); The History of the Left From Marx to the Present: Theoretical Perspectives (2007), and Critique of Instrumental Reason from Weber to Habermas (2010).

The evening will include plenty of time for discussion and to ask your own questions.
