New Year Plant Hunt
Friday 2 January, 10.30am-12 noon, meet at the Linklater Pavilion, Railway Lane, Lewes, BN7 2FG, FREE
Join Jan Knowlson, Biodiversity Officer at the South Downs National Park, for a gentle New Year’s walk around the Railway Land Nature Reserve to record plants in bloom to help inform understanding of how plants in Britain are responding to changing weather patterns.
Jan says: “We will be stopping as we go to record any wild or naturalised plants in bloom in the middle of winter.
The results will help the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland to build up a better understanding of how plants are responding to changing autumn and winter weather patterns. The more we all know, the more we can help to conserve our wild plants and all the other wildlife they support.”
You’ll finish up back at the Linklater Pavilion to share results and have a warming cup of tea or coffee and biscuits! Just turn up on the day – no booking required.
Meet outside the Linklater Pavilion and wear warm clothes and wellies or waterproof boots. Everyone of all ages welcome – including dogs on a lead. Email if you have any questions.
