Love Local Food at Lewes Climate Hub
This October, join Lewes Climate Hub to celebrate the best of local, seasonal food and explore how we can support it – and make it available to all.
All events at Lewes Climate Hub, Lewes House, 32 High Street, Lewes unless otherwise stated.
Saturday 5 October
1pm-3pm – Panel Talk & People’s Assembly: How do we make local food accessible to all?
We all know local, seasonal food is the most nutritious option, with the lowest carbon footprint and fewest food miles. But compared to supermarket food, does its price and availability mean it’s only accessible to a privileged few? In this afternoon, we’ll look to explore how local farmers, food growers and food enterprises can be supported and their produce might be made accessible to everyone.
The afternoon will begin with a panel talk of guest speakers followed by a facilitated inclusive People’s Assembly to share your thoughts and ideas. All comments and ideas gathered at the People’s Assembly will be fed back to Lewes Town and District Councils and Lewes District Food Partnership.
Our guest speakers include:
Robin Walden – Managing Director of local retailers Seasons Wholefoods and a passionate advocate of supporting local food producers and food shopping with a low environmental impact.
Nancy Wilson – Part of the management team of Lewes District Food Partnership which aims to bring people, communities and organisations together to create better food systems for everyone.
