Lewes Climate Hub is now two! Help us keep going for (at least!) another year
It’s been just over two years since Lewes Climate Hub opened at its current premises at Lewes House in the centre of town. Since then, a team of volunteers (plus one very modestly paid part-time co-ordinator) have delivered a non-stop programme of activities, campaigns, workshops, talks and more to over 3,000 visitors a year. Amazing people are giving their time for free to make the Climate Hub possible (including many of the experts who generously come and give talks and run activities for us – including from our 40+ partner groups). This helps us to offer most events on a free, donation-only or low-cost basis, so everyone can feel welcome at the Hub.
But putting on a continuous programme of events still costs money. Costs for design and marketing, materials for workshops and displays, some speakers’ expenses, website and e-newsletter hosting, plus premises’ costs and our coordinator’s fees all mean we have to spend around £1,400 a month to keep the Hub open.
Climate Hub in Numbers
A lot of our costs have been met through grants – thanks to the generosity of bodies including Lewes Town Council, the Chalk Cliff Trust, Sussex Community Foundation, Lewes District Food Partnership, Ouse Valley Climate Action and the National Lottery Community Fund, and Friends of Lewes. But there are only so many times we can apply for support from these organisations. So, if you value the work of Lewes Climate Hub, we’d love your help.
Four ways you can support us!
1 Play the Lewes District Local Lottery
Lewes District Local Lottery is a weekly lottery raising money for local good causes. Tickets cost just £1 per week for a chance to win a range of cash prizes, with a top prize of £25,000. By choosing Lewes Climate Hub as your community cause, for every £1 lottery ticket you buy, 60p can help fund our work. Last year a player supporting Lewes Climate Hub won £250! Learn more here.
2 Make a one-off donation
Lewes Climate Hub is a community interest company that accepts regular or one-off donations (we’re not a charity so donations don’t qualify for GiftAid). The easiest way to make one-off donations anytime you want is via the Donate page on our website here: https://lewesclimatehub.org/donate.
Plus, 1% of every donation will go towards Stripe’s programme to remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere.
3 Make a regular donation
If you’d like to donate monthly, you can do so by setting up a standing order on your bank account. Make payment to:
Lewes Climate Hub CIC
Metro Bank
Account: 4937 7983
Sort code: 23-05-80
4 Be a Hub sponsor
Local businesses! If you think what you do fits pretty well with what we do, contact us to ask about sponsorship opportunities. These could include an advert on our newsletter (which goes to over 2,000 supporters), a banner on our website, or sponsoring one of our upcoming monthly seasons or events. Contact to discuss.
Or if there are any other ways you can think of that you can help us keep our events and activities accessible to everyone in Lewes and beyond, please get in touch. Email us at and we’d love to chat.
