Latest news from Greenpeace Lewes

Did you know that Greenpeace is now active again in Lewes? Here’s what’s happening and how you can get involved, as Debbie Annells, joint coordinator for Greenpeace Lewes, explains.

Greenpeace Lewes hosted a very successful screening of the Netflix documentary ‘Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy’ at Lewes’ House of Friendship last month. The film unpacks the tricks brands use to keep their customers consuming — and the real impact they have on our lives and the world. The screening was followed by a great discussion and there will be another film screening soon. There is an international Greenpeace campaign and a UK petition to tackle plastic pollution worldwide in advance of the next UN  Plastics Treaty negotiations expected later this year, which you can sign here.

Stop Drilling – Start Paying

Our next focus is the Greenpeace campaign Stop Drilling – Start Paying, calling for the government to force big polluters like Shell to stop drilling and start paying for the devastation they are causing around the world.

This will kick off with a ‘Chats for Change’ stall on Cliffe Bridge in central Lewes on Saturday 5 April, 10am-2pm, where we’ll be asking the public for their views and inviting them to urge the government to take action. If you’d like to help host the stall (and it can be great fun!) – please sign up on the following link (training is given on how to chat with the public on these topics):
