With traffic congestion set to escalate, join Lewes Climate Hub and guest speakers to explore five bold transport ideas to make Lewes a greener and easier place for everyone to get around.
Come and vote on the five ideas and share your thoughts and ideas for future travel in Lewes. All public comments will be fed back to local councils to inform transport strategy. They will also help to form Lewes’ transport ‘ask’ for candidates in the mayoral elections for the new Combined County Authority next year.

Becoming a Cargo Bike Town
With lots of Lewes traffic caused by home and business delivery and the school run, can electric cargo-bikes help slash congestion and pollution? Join Lewes enterprise ‘Get Bikery’ to see how the town can support more use of these two-wheeled wonders – and come and try one for yourself. Bringing Park & Stride/Ride to Lewes
Towns across the UK have transformed levels of traffic by introducing Park & Ride/Park & Stride. Is it time for Lewes to follow suit? Kevin Moore of Low Traffic Lewes and Kevin Scott of Herbert Scott Financial Planners and Lewes Chamber of Commerce look at the pros, cons – and potential sites for Park & Ride in Lewes.

Could a continuous circular bus route help people (especially the less-abled) navigate our hilly streets and revive the ‘top of town’? Andrew Simpson of Lewes Chamber of Commerce and Jean Lawrence of Lewes Area Access Group (for people with access needs) explore how it might work and look at examples from towns comparable to Lewes.Â

It’s a highly contentious suggestion – but is removing a lot of vehicular traffic from our High Street the key to making Lewes more attractive for residents, tourism and business? Our season’s experts explore what other towns in the UK and beyond have done to be people-centric not car-centric – and what a low-car Lewes High Street could look like.
