Improved bike parking at Foundry Healthcare

Cycle Lewes announces new bike parking facilities at two Lewes GP sites, River Lodge and St Andrew’s, following collaboration with Lewes Town Council and Foundry Healthcare Lewes – and is keen to hear from other organisations in town that would like to provide cycle parking.

The new three-stand rack can hold up to six bikes at River Lodge on a concrete base, and is suitable for a wider range of types and sizes of bike. It replaces three historic wall-mounted ‘paper clips’ to which bikes could not be securely locked.

A further new bike rack on the side of St Andrew’s replaces a previous one and includes a concrete base and easier access.

Cycle Lewes successfully applied for funding for the rack from Lewes Town Council’s Community Interest Levy on behalf of Foundry, who then arranged for the installation of the racks.

Foundry Healthcare says: “We’re proud to support active travel with these improved facilities, which make it easier for our patients and staff to choose cycling as a healthier, more sustainable option.”

Cllr Matthew Bird, from Lewes Town Council added: “We are really pleased to be working in partnership with Cycle Lewes and Foundry Healthcare and to support the provision of much-needed bike stands at the River Lodge Surgery.”
