The Buzz Club: Do real science in your garden

Concerned about our declining insect population? The Buzz Club invites everyone to make a real difference to insect conservation – with fun, easy experiments and projects you can do in your own garden, as The Buzz Club team explains.

The Buzz Club is a non-profit organisation run out of the University of Sussex. We were set up five years ago by Prof. Dave Goulson (professor of biology and best-selling author) with a group of other scientists, all keen to share their fascination with insects.

Garden invertebrates are currently in decline, under threat from a variety of different factors, the majority of which are man-made. Therefore, we actively need to conserve these essential animals. Excitingly, any outdoor space, such as a garden, is a great place to do just that!

How to join in

The Buzz Club creates easy and accessible experiments that anyone can do in their garden to help us understand how to conserve garden wildlife (especially pollinators). We have hundreds of volunteers across the UK who are making a real difference to real science by becoming Buzz Club Citizen Scientists.

Our projects are suitable for all ages and abilities and are free to take part in. The more people we can get engaged with our mission, the more of an impact we can have in conserving insects!

So why not get involved?! Keep an eye on our website here for projects you can join: https://www.thebuzzclub.uk/projects

If you don’t want to join a project, there are plenty of other ways to get involved. Join one of our online events and find free resources, including planting guides and ID quizzes, on our website here: www.thebuzzclub.uk
