Get into nature at Lewes Railway Land
The Railway Land Wildlife Trust has got lots of seasonal activities for anyone wanting to connect with and work with nature this winter. Leah Dennison highlights what’s on offer for all ages and abilities.
There are loads of ways for young people aged 14-25 to get involved in our FREE Youth Action Project. From practical conservation work to creative filmmaking, you can help restore the Heart of Reeds, reimagine the historic Signal Box, and more! Find out more about upcoming sessions here.
If you’re a bit older – don’t worry! There’s plenty of opportunity to team up with the Meadow Minders at the Railway Land to carry out practical conservation work to restore important wildlife habitats and to help maintain the site. The Meadow Minders meet at 10am on the 1st Sunday of every month, and at 10am on the third Friday – details of upcoming dates here.
Or join the Downland Guardians and volunteering sessions at Landport Bottom, Butts Brow and Castle Hill to get involved in protecting and monitoring our unique chalk grassland ecosystems.
If you’d like something gentle but educational, take part in our weekly Nature Wander! Explore the Railway Land nature reserve with a small, friendly group of nature enthusiasts, spotting wildlife as you meander across diverse habitats, from woodlands to reedbeds every Tuesday and Thursday, 11am – 12.30pm.
