Film: People’s Emergency Briefing
Sunday 27 September, 3pm-5pm, St Mary’s Supporters Club Bar, Lewes, BN7 1PL, FREE – book places here.
Another opportunity to see the People’s Emergency Briefing, the 50-minute film presented by Chris Packham detailing the environmental and ecological challenges we now face and how we can work to tackle them – and which is being shown by communities across the UK.
Whether you’ve heard about the film or not, this is a chance to see it with no pressure, no politics, no preaching. Just a chance to watch with neighbours who want to understand what’s actually being said about climate and nature, what it all means, and what we can do.
This screening especially welcomes people who wouldn’t usually come to an event like this: are you curious, sceptical, overwhelmed, unsure or simply worried? If you have any or all of these feelings you are not alone, please do join us.
The film will be shown following a short introduction by Nevill residents. Water and snacks will be provided and the bar will be open for hot and cold drinks. Following the film, you’re invited to take part in a facilitated discussion at your table to share your feelings and thoughts about the film, and perhaps share ideas and suggest actions inspired by what you have seen.
There’s absolutely no obligation to stay for the discussion afterwards. If you’d prefer to simply watch the film and head off, that’s completely fine. If you do choose to stay, the conversation will be relaxed, practical and friendly — there’s no pressure to speak, and no expectation to take part in anything beyond what feels comfortable.
Come along, watch with neighbours, and take from it whatever you need. Everyone’s welcome.
Expect:
- A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere
- An engaging 50-minute film screening
- Friendly discussion afterwards – choose whether to join in or not.
Come along, get informed, and make up your own mind what to do next.
