A Festival of Trees in Lewes
Sunday 15 to Sunday 22 June, locations around Lewes, FREE (booking required)
The Lewes Urban Arboretum team have organised three gentle guided walks in June to celebrate some of the trees in Lewes that have made it an accredited ‘Arboretum Town’!
Since 2014, Lewes Urban Arboretum, the trees committee of the Friends of Lewes, has worked to increase the number and diversity of trees across Lewes, with a clear focus on supporting native species.
To date, Lewes Urban Arboretum has helped to plant 69 different tree species across the town. As a result, in 2023, the worldwide ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Programme awarded the town ‘Level 1 Arboretum status’, making Lewes one of only two towns in the UK to be officially classified as an arboretum.
