10-week course: The Work That Reconnects

Thursday 30 Jan-27 March, 6pm-8.30pm, Lewes Climate Hub, Lewes House, 32 High Street, Lewes, BN7 2LU, £99 (flexible payment options)

Join psychotherapist Jen Beaver and facilitator for social change Jas Tribe for a 10-week journey through The Work That Reconnects, the globally-renowned group process developed by author, ecologist and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy to help each of us find hope, resilience and connection in challenging times.

Why join this workshop?

Faced with multiple overlapping crises (climate breakdown, war, injustice, biodiversity loss and more), we have the great privilege of living on Earth at a pivotal point in history. But so many challenges can be hard to process and we often find ways to avoid facing our feelings.

This workshop looks to provide ways amid these crises for anyone to express their fears, sadness, anger, hopes (and much more) safely – and, ultimately, to see a path forward.

What is ‘The Work That Reconnects’?

The Work That Reconnects (WTR) is a group process developed by activist, author, ecologist and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy. It is informed by many spiritual and indigenous wisdoms, traditions and practices.

The 10-week course follows a journey known as the ‘WTR Spiral’ – to honour and move through our responses to our challenging times, unblocking our defences so we can discover our unique role and next steps towards creating a life-sustaining society. The workshops alternate between group sessions and ‘study-buddy’ pair work, guiding you through a process of active hope, resilience and community.

Our 10-week WTR Spiral Journey:
In-person sessions are held fortnightly over the 10 weeks at Lewes Climate Hub, 6pm-8.30pm:

Week 1 – Thurs 30 Jan: Resourcing through Gratitude

Week 3 – Thurs 13 Feb: Honouring our (more challenging) Feelings for the World

Week 5 – Thurs 27 Feb: Seeing with New and Ancient Eyes

Week 7 – Thurs 13 March: Liberation and Justice

Week 9 – Thursday 27 March: Going Forth: Connecting to your Unique Role and Gifts

In between these fortnightly group sessions, participants will be buddied up into pairs for integration exercises. These exercises can be done in person, on phone or online whenever and where ever works for each pair.
