Emergency food 

There are three emergency food providers in Lewes. They are all open on a Monday and use the same referral form and criteria. Local residents may only attend one of the Lewes foodbanks.

Landport Foodbank, Lewes

Fitzjohns Foodbank, Lewes
The Foodbank is run in partnership with (but not by) Christ Church. Advice on legal matters & benefits is sometimes available.

Elsewhere in Lewes District there are foodbanks in Seaford, Newhaven and Lewes. Some are now offering in person support again, whilst others are still operating a delivery only service. Please contact individual foodbanks for details on how to be referred.

Ringmer Foodbank
Run by Ringmer Baptist Church. People that don’t have a referral but are in exceptional need should talk to the Baptist Church who may be able to authorise a single emergency parcel.

Community fridges and pantries

They redistribute surplus food from local shops and producers. Food is available for free to the whole community on a first come, first served basis.

Community Supermarkets                  

Community Supermarkets are a membership scheme. There are no criteria to join and once you are a member you can come for as long as you like. Food and other essential items are available on a pay-as-you-feel basis. Both Newhaven and Peacehaven Community Supermarkets also provide tea & coffee and advice workers also offer drop in support and help with benefits, housing and wellbeing.
